Once they arrive on Naboo, the story gets completely derailed because of Jar Jar Binks… …a fool, a ninny, and a clumsy moron whose only purpose is to make children under the age of ten laugh, and make Star Wars more relatable to a younger viewing audience. #Star wars episode i the phantom menace stream movie
Note: at this point in the movie we are 10 minutes in (and even that’s being quite generous). Great! The story is picking back up again! Awesome!
Then the two Jedi stow away on a cargo ship bound for the planet Naboo, and learn of the Federation’s plans to attack the planet with a droid army and kidnap the Queen. And now they’re taking on these deadly spidery, rolling, force-field droids? I’m totally losing my mind at how amazing this is!. He’s using it to cut through the blast doors! WHAAAAAT?!?! That’s so awesome! I’ve never seen anything like that before! So cool! How come no one ever thought of that?!. Awesome! The Jedi are about to kick some serious butt! The Viceroy receives instruction from Darth Sidious to kill the Jedi and to continue on with their originally scheduled plan. Awesome! Our first look at Obi Wan Kenobi! Great! We’re kicking this thing off with some Jedi. Two Jedi are sent to negotiate a treaty with the Federation so that fair trade may resume, AND to find out why the blockade was put up in the first place. Awesome! Great start to the story! Something potentially sinister is going on that creates an immediate situation, as well as sets us up for future story. The Trade Federation (who is in cahoots with Darth Sidious/Senator Palpatine) has put up an illegal blockade on the planet of Naboo. 
I’m just saying that there were fun things to watch on screen, and admittedly so, some of the story as well. Only two.Īnd I’m not even taking about the entire parts of the beginning or ending. Just so that we’re all clear, there are two really good parts of the movie. Unless, of course, George Lucas was referring to himself ironically for delivering an absolute garbage movie, then yes, I would have to agree that he is indeed The Phantom that never appears in the film as he, himself, is quite the Menace. Of garbage! First of all, there is no phantom, nor is there any credible menace. Second only to its sequel, Episode I stands as George Lucas’ central succubus in his epic sci-fi prequel phenomenon: The Phantom Garbage Movie.
